Letter, 1770 July 31.

Letter to Andrew Adams, an attorney at Litchfield, Conn., responding to a bill from Adams for a defamation suit on Livingston's behalf. Joel Harvey had instigated the suit on Livingston's behalf against George Caldwell. Livingston claims he knew nothing of the suit, but will obtain payment for Adams from either Harvey or himself. Written at Manor Livingston.

Andrew Adams (January 7, 1736 – November 26, 1797) was an American Founding Father, lawyer, jurist, and political leader in Litchfield, Connecticut, during the American Revolutionary War. He was a delegate for Connecticut to the Continental Congress, signatory of the Articles of Confederation, and later Chief Justice of the Connecticut Supreme Court.
